Our council hosts a large number of council activities throughout the
year. In addition to the council business meetings which are held
once a month, on the 2nd Monday, at 8:00 pm:
-
At Christmas time we organise a party for the senior citizens of the Catholic
Community and their friends. Usually in the region of 85 persons are
entertained after a light tea party.
-
In Spring and Autumn we run fairs to raise money to support the above party and
also to contribute to local Charities.
-
Other fund raising activities are organised such as a 'Quiz Night', a 'Donkey
Derby' and several other items. All these are aimed at supporting both local
and international charities such as CAFOD.
-
Every year we attend a celebration of Mass at Lyford Grange, in Oxfordshire.
This is held on the anniversary of the death of St. Edmund Campion, who used
the Barn at Lyford to say Mass for local Catholics. Each year this is organised
by the Province to which we belong. It is invariably a uplifting spiritual
event and attended by families
-
Assistance to the local Clergy is one of our priorities in the local parishes,
many members either Serving or assisting with Reading or acting as Eucharistic
Ministers.
